We’re delighted to support Helen Griffith and Ysgol Gyfun Cwm in providing a range of targeted support designed to strengthen belonging, wellbeing and engagement for disadvantaged learners. Funding will support lunchtime clubs, after-school revision sessions and personalised hygiene provision, helping remove some of the practical, social and emotional barriers that can affect pupils’ experience of school.
Lunchtime activities, including the Diversity Club and Arts and Crafts Mindfulness sessions, will provide welcoming spaces where pupils can connect with others, develop confidence and engage positively during the school day. By creating opportunities for pupils to feel included and build a stronger sense of belonging, the project supports RADY principles around inclusion, wellbeing and engagement, while contributing to positive behaviour and attendance.
Funding will also support after-school revision clubs by providing snacks for pupils who attend. As learners travel to school from a wide geographical area, additional transport costs can create barriers to staying after school. Providing refreshments will help ensure that financial circumstances do not prevent disadvantaged learners from accessing additional learning and revision opportunities.
The project will also provide separate hygiene packs for boys and girls, containing essential items such as toothpaste and shampoo. Access to these everyday essentials can help promote dignity and confidence while reducing social and emotional barriers that may otherwise affect attendance, engagement and pupils’ ability to participate fully in school life.
Importantly, the provision is designed to respond sensitively to pupils’ differing needs, ensuring support is targeted and personalised. This reflects a key RADY principle: recognising that disadvantaged learners may face different barriers and providing the appropriate support to help them overcome them.
By combining inclusive enrichment, practical support and access to additional learning, Ysgol Gyfun Cwm is helping create an environment where disadvantaged learners feel valued, supported and able to participate fully in school life.
