Our Trustees.

Unlocking Potential. Fostering Equity. Changing Lives.

At the heart of the Achieve Equity Foundation’s work are our dedicated trustees. With a shared passion for unlocking potential, educational equity, and changing lives our trustees bring diverse expertise and unwavering commitment to guide the AEF mission.

Here’s a brief introduction to those behind the foundation’s vision who are in pursuit of a brighter future for disadvantaged learners across the UK.

I am a consultant working with charities and non-profits and supported Challenging Education to set up AEF. My career started as a Youth Worker and I care passionately about social equality and providing opportunities for young people to achieve their potential.

I have spent my career championing children’s rights and youth participation. I believe In the voice of the child and the Importance of using this voice to Influence positive change. CEO of an amazing local charity called Newcastle Carers, supporting the Incredible unpaid carers who prop up our communities, and offer such love and compassion for their loved ones.

Jennifer Ford is Headteacher of Treorchy, a large Comprehensive School in the Rhondda. Prior to this, Jennifer was the Head of Pentrehafod School in Swansea. Both schools are proud to be RADY schools and she has a real passion for inclusion and belonging for all… what the Welsh call CYNEFIN. Jennifer trained as an English teacher and loves words and the power of language. She is also a keen runner and takes part in Park Runs and marathons. Jennifer has a grown up family, a geographer husband and a loving but badly behaved rescue dog.

I have worked in a senior finance capacity within the education sector for over twenty years. Since 2017 I have been Chief Financial Officer for a Multi Academy Trust currently comprising four special schools in Staffordshire. I wanted to use my personal and sector experience to work within the Achieve Equity Foundation to provide targeted support to disadvantaged young people.

Trustee &
Creator of RADY

Dave taught for twenty years in secondary schools in Knowsley and Liverpool, before becoming a local authority adviser. In 2012, he created the RADY project, which supports schools to demonstrate, through the pupil-level targets they set, equal expectations for both children from poorer backgrounds and other pupils. This is because differences in school expectations are a major factor causing the attinment gaps. He continues to work closely with Challenging Education in the area of RADY.

Senior Lecturer in Education at Sheffield Hallam University, consultant teacher with The National Association for the Teaching of English and Associate Speaker with Independent Thinking. Martin is a leading voice in English education today with a passionate belief that what your students need is an education that offers them hope.

I have been working in trusts and foundations fundraising for over 10 years. I previously worked as a fundraiser for a national children’s charity. I love adding value to our clients’ work and using words to make a difference to people’s lives.
