Grants were awarded following the pilot round of applications.
Trustees of the Achieve Equity Foundation approved funding in July 2024 for grant applications in the first round that totalled just over £22,000 and will benefit seventeen schools. The trustees were delighted with the range of applications and the different ways that the funding is aiming to be used to benefit disadvantaged learners.
Some of the successful grant projects included;
- Supporting a STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Maths) trip to Cosford RAF Station followed by STEM resources for the schools.
- Virtual reality headsets to enhance the cultural capital of learners.
- A family cooking club to improve nutrition, a sense of belonging and parental engagement.
- A team-building and problem-solving area in the forest school.
- Funding a geography related university visit so that students can experience university first-hand.
- Supporting an Emotions Based School Attendance (EBSA) project to help understand the barriers to attendance.
